Billy Mays was found dead in his home this morning. It's starting to become crazy how many people have died in the last week. This brings the celebrity count to 4. Two of them shocking (Billy Mays, Micheal Jackson), two of them sad but not surprising(Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett).

Did I wake up in the twilight zone or something?

Yeah, I know. I'm bad. I haven't blogged on here in over a year. I suppose I'm still debating which blogging service to settle down with. I've posted a few posts over on blogger. It looks pretty, but blogger doesn't seem to have the community aspect of livejournal.

I think in the end, I'll go with LJ. Simply because over on blogger, I feel like my blog is on a deserted island in the middle of the atlantic. Over here, I feel like my blog is in the middle of a sprawling metropolis.

And what can I say...I like crowds. :D

Just got home from Erie and let me say this was the WORST vacation of my life. Our hosts had a bunch of pets which caused my allergies to flare up. Plus I was bored out of my mind.

We had gone up because we were considering renting an apartment from them. Well we get there and the place is a piece of junk. The guy who owns it is a cable installer and decreed that there will be "no satellite dishes on my house". Why? Because he doesn't like them. Well that made an easy decision even easier because I have Dish Network and I won't break my commitment for cable.

But let me talk about our hosts. Without naming names, the guy is one of those "I'm better than all of you" types. That annoys me a bit, but his girlfriend is a "I'm better than all of you and I always get what I want" types, which is ten times worse. Not to mention that she's lazy as all hell and barely did anything while we were up there.

Now, on to Erie. Not to offend all of those who live there, but it's a pretty run down city. There's nothing really to do there and the jobs seem to be pitiful. Plus it's just all around ugly in my opinion. Once you get past the mall, you see that most of the city is falling apart. This is in comparasion to Pittsburgh, which isn't the best either, but from what I've seen is a beautiful city with a fair bit to do.

The only high point of the trip was seeing my best friend Nikkie. It's been years since we last saw each other face to face, so that was a nice part.

Anyway, that's the end of my rant. Next up I plan on talking about Final Fantasy IV.

So the harddrive in my laptop died, or rather, is in the process of dying. Windows stopped booting up because someone at microsoft had the BRILLIANT idea of setting the system to AUTOMATICALLY REBOOT during a stop error. I got the Stop Error during reboot. You can guess how that went. I couldn't even boot into safe mode.

So I said "fuck it" and install ubuntu. Now the problem with that is the fact that there were errors on the drive and so FSCK was forced to run at bootup. Okay, that's fine.

The next day, it was still running. After waiting half the day I took drastic measures. I was using my old desktop computer as a back up drive mostly. It would freeze at the xp login screen but we could still access the drive through the network. Well I wiped it clean and installed ubuntu on that. I didn't have anything of value on there and Ubuntu runs like a dream. The amusing thing is that both computers are compaqs, but the desktop is now 7 years old. The laptop is two.

Goes to show you that they don't build them like they used to.
